Vienna International Institute for Middle East Studies
Urgent Message of the
Vienna International Institute for Middle East Studies (VIIMES)
to
SIGRID KAAG, UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction
Coordinator for Gaza
Esteemed Madam,
The entire world is witnessing the outraging tragedy of the Palestinians in Gaza Strip
experiencing the most severe famine as the result of total destruction of food infrastructure and widespread scarcity of essential supply and spread of disease.
Trucks are not able to carry out huge emergency needs in a timely manner. Business is not as usual and routine options do not work. Before it is too late, there is an urgent need for an innovative approach and courageous decision to be implemented.
At this particular junction, the Vienna International Institute for Middle East Studies strongly encourages you to help mobilize air carriers, helicopters, as many countries are prepared to provide helicopters for an historical humanitarian operation.
The distribution of the awaited humanitarian aid (food, medicine, water and other urgent needs) will be under the supervision of the United Nations, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent, to appropriate distribution locations, from the north to the south of Gaza.
VIIMES urges you to act today since tomorrow is too late.
