BIOGRAPHY

Ambassador Taous  Feroukhi, Born in Algeria, obtained a degree in Human Sciences from the Universite d Alger. She has a diploma from the Institute for International Relations and holds a post-graduate degree in International Relations.

Mrs. Feroukhi started her diplomatic career in 1977 at the Algerian Foreign Ministry. She has an extensive experience and knowledge in multilateral diplomacy. She served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Algeria to the Office of the United Nations and International Organizations based in Geneva (1990-1994).

She held the position of Deputy Director in charge of the United Nations Specialized Programs (1994-1998); Chargee d’Etudes et de Synthese in the Cabinet of the Minister for Foreign Affairs (1998-2000), and Chargee de mission in the Cabinet of the President of the Republic in charge of a wide range of international issues (2000-2001).

Mrs. Feroukhi has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Austria to the Slovak Republic (2001-2012) and Permanent Representative of Algeria to the Office of the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna in November (2001-2012).

She was involved in international negotiations related to the Helsinki process at the Organization of Security and Cooperation (OSCE), the Uruguay world trade Agreements, the NPT Review Conference, Climate Change Convention, the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, the UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime, and the UN Convention Against Corruption.

She chaired the Working Group on Definition and Delimitation of Outer Space, the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the Advisory Committee on Safeguards and Verification within the AIEA Statute, and the Committee of the Hole of the AIEAs 50th General Conference. She also headed the Algerian Delegation to the first Preparatory Committee of the 2010 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference NPT.

In 2012, she held the position of Director General for Political Affairs and International Security at the Algerian Foreign Ministry (2012-2016).

Mrs. Feroukhi was elected by State Parties to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as the President of the 2015 NPT Review Conference. In April 2016, she got her assignment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain (2016-2019).

In 2020, she retired from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Soltanieh

Born on 1st October 1950, Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh as nuclear scientist and multilateral diplomat has been active as participant/guest speaker in over 200 international and regional conferences, specifically on international security, WMD Non- proliferation and Disarmament since 1982.
He has served two times as the Resident Representative to the IAEA (1982-87; 2006-2013). During the first mission to the IAEA, he was simultaneously the Chief Negotiator and Head of Delegation to the United Nations Conference on Promotion of International Cooperation on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy (PUNE). He has been fully involved in the NPT conferences since 1982.
He served as Ambassador to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva (1999-2002) & Vienna (2006-2013).
While serving as DPR in Geneva (1999-2002), he was the Chief Negotiator on the Protocol of Biological Weapons Convention as well as delegate to the Conference of Disarmament (CD).
